When it comes to booking an artist and more particularly a major artist, one of the most important factors is the popularity of the artist and the popularity of their name. A struggle that many colleges run into is finding a large name musician for a realistic price. The more popular the more expensive the acts tend to be. Luckily there are many incredibly talented artists that people know that are affordable.

Planning events for a college campus is all about the students. Doing what makes them happy and excited is the key to getting a larger attendance to these events. After taking a poll at my school, 73% of students say they care about a concert less if they don't know the performer or their music.

So how do you break this barrier if people don't know who the artist is? The most important thing to consider while marketing leading up to your event is developing knowledge of who your artist is. Promoting their music and their stories throughout social media so students will want to learn more about the performer.

MAKE THE BEST OF IT. If you are excited about the musician than ultimately that effect will rub off on others and get them just as thrilled.
