When it comes to planning an event one of the biggest decision you will face is deciding a venue. What kind of event will it be, who will be attending, and what will be provided? There are many options to consider to make your event perfect.

Location:

Depending on the type of event you will be holding you must consider the different venues to use. For a concert, you will typically look for space with a stage already there but is that always a necessity. You can create a show almost anywhere, outside or inside. How many people you expect to attend will play a role in the capacity of the space. If it is a small show then you should consider somewhere intimate with seating close to the stage. If planning a much larger concert outside is always a great option because occupancy is unlimited.

Amenities:

What does the venue provide themselves? If they do not provide their own light and sound equipment can you provide them or need to bring in an outside company. Creating events for college campuses most schools provide their own team that is trained on their own lighting and sound equipment. As a member of one of these teams, it is extremely important that every work completely understand how each system works and how to take control during an event.

Accessibility:

Will your venue provide adequate accessibility for anyone wanting to attend. If it is upstairs it is a must that the venue has an elevator, not only for those who need it but just as importantly to transport equipment. If a band is bringing their own equipment it is difficult to transport upstairs. The accessibility to an elevator can make or break a deal while booking.

Cost:

If you are not holding this event in your own venue is there a cost associated with it? The nice thing about college campuses is that typically all venue spaces are free to use through the school but if you leave campus and use an outside venue there is typically a price to pay. You need to consider how much of your budget you can allocate to the location and everything else that comes along with it.

Obviously, there is a lot to consider while looking for a venue, but if you use these tips and you will find a venue that works exactly for your event.
