How to Budget Your Money

At the beginning of each year, budgets will always be re-set. It is important for you to find out how much your budget will be and the guidelines that follow. Is your budget set in stone, will it be for a full year or a semester, or what other activities fall under your budget?

Most importantly, when you begin breaking down your budget the first step you should take is plan out the dates for your events. Deciding when and how many events you will have throughout the semester/year will give you a good sense of how much of the budget can go towards each event.

If you know that come the end of the Spring semester you want to have one event that is different and bigger than the others then you need to take that into considerations for every event in the Fall.

The next steps you would move forward with is sending offer letters to artists. Once you know about how much you can spend for an event, start researching talent to bring in and send them offer letters with that pricing.

What do you do if you have extra money? Add fun giveaways!! Students love receiving free things or having an activity to do while at some of these shows. Bring food, games, free little giveaways, whatever your budget will allow you to do. If you are able to add any extra things to your event then do it, it will be an exciting extra to add.
